NH LADC Evaluations FAQ's
What exactly is an MLADC Evaluation?
LADC evaluation is a legal document ordered by an attorney or the court for the purpose of evaluating any substance abuse issues involved in your case. A “LADC” is a state Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor trained and experienced in the requirements of the court. This type of in-depth assessment requires specialized skills that not only involve substance abuse assessment methods but require experience in dealing with the specific needs of the judicial system.
How long does an evaluation take?
The duration of a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) evaluation can vary based on several factors, including the complexity of the case, the extent of information required, and the specific protocols followed by the evaluating professional or agency. Generally, an LADC evaluation may take a few hours to complete.
What happens after the evaluation?
After an evaluation, the document is sent into the judge and a decision is made. From there, you will either need services or not. This depends on the judges decision.
What if I wasn't legally ordered to get an evaluation?
While assessment and recommended services are typically court-ordered, many defense attorneys advise clients to undergo assessments and counseling preemptively, often enhancing case outcomes within a plea bargain strategy. It's essential to heed the strategic guidance of your defense attorney throughout this process.
