LADC Evaluations - A Detailed Overview
LADC evaluation is a legal document ordered by an attorney or the court for the purpose of evaluating any substance abuse issues involved in your case. A “LADC” is a state Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor trained and experienced in the requirements of the court. This type of in-depth assessment requires specialized skills that not only involve substance abuse assessment methods but require experience in dealing with the specific needs of the judicial system.
A LADC concludes with a “Finding” and “Recommendation.” Many clients are under the impression the court-ordered LADC evaluation is simply an assessment and nothing more. However, the “Findings” may include “court ordered treatment or education.” The LADC is required to determine what will be the appropriate intervention for the defendant to be at a “Low risk of re-offending.” This determination is not only a legal issue but for public safety considerations.
